The outdoor seating includes covered patios, making it an ideal spot to enjoy the fresh air while dining.
Doña Clorinda is a well-known figure in Pisac’s dining scene. After 40 years in Lima, she returned home and opened this beloved restaurant. It’s popular among Peruvian families visiting Pisac. One important note: Restaurante Doña Clorinda is only open for lunch and in the afternoon, closing at 5 PM. So, plan your visit accordingly. Even if you arrive close to closing time, you’ll find the staff welcoming and not in a rush to close up, allowing you to enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace.

This all-vegan restaurant operates only on Sundays from 12 to 6 PM, making it a special event that draws locals and travelers alike. La Ruta is one of the best restaurants in Pisac, lining Plaza Constitución, Pisac’s main plaza. The plaza is famous for its Sunday market, making La Ruta a convenient spot for a meal or a drink while you watch the bustling activity below. Of all the restaurants I tried in the plaza, La Ruta stood out for the quality of its food.
What sets La Ruta apart is the quality of the food presentation, which rivals that of much more expensive restaurants. My grilled trout with purple olive sauce and Andean potatoes was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Other popular dishes include slow-cooked cuy (guinea pig), rosemary or honey chicken, and alpaca steak. Vegetarians will also find plenty of options, including rice, quinoa, soups, and salads.
La Ruta offers what I consider the best view of the plaza, as it’s almost directly opposite Pisac’s main church, Iglesia de San Pedro Apostal. The small patio facing the plaza is a great spot to enjoy your meal while taking in the sights. One thing to note is that smoking is allowed on the patio, which may be a plus or a minus depending on your preferences.
Right next door to La Ruta is La Paila, a newer restaurant that offers a more casual dining experience. While it lacks as many reviews as its neighbor, La Paila surprised me with delicious food, especially its “Asian” flavored ceviche.
This unique twist on a Peruvian classic came beautifully presented with Andean potato balls, cheese slices, and avocado. The menu also includes comfort food favorites like tequeños, falafel, alpaca burgers, and papa a la huancaína. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the plaza view is excellent, making it great for a casual meal.

The thin crust pizza is made with love in a wood-fired oven, and the beer crafted on-site is surprisingly delicious. Another restaurant on the main plaza, Cuchara de Palo, offers fancier dishes in a lovely internal courtyard. While the food is good, the prices are higher, and it didn’t stand out to me as much as the others.
For the best empanadas in town, head to La Waylaca in Mercado de Artesanías, a souvenir street extending from the northeast corner of the main plaza. The empanadas are made in a huge colonial oven and are simply delicious. They’ve also got beer on tap, making it a great spot for a quick bite.
If you’re in the mood for a good coffee or brunch, El Encanto is the place to go. Located at the northwest corner of Felipe Marín Moreno Botanical Garden, the cafe offers a beautiful view of the garden through its large glass windows. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a peaceful morning.
